Brick masonry is a highly durable form of construction. It is built by placing bricks in mortar in a systematic manner to construct solid mass that withstand exerted loads. There are several types of bricks and number of mortars which can be used to construct brick masonry.
This technique requires a skilled hand and a lot of experience. If the wall isn’t constructed well, it won’t last or be able to withstand outdoor conditions. Our experienced, professional brick masons know the best techniques to construct brick walls and will make sure the structure is durable and sound.
Below are the three biggest types of bricks available:
Facing bricks are the most popular type of brick and have been the façade material of choice for thousands of years, particularly in the housing market. They are primarily used for the external walls of a building and so are generally chosen for their aesthetic qualities. As the façade material has the biggest impact on the external aesthetics of a building, alongside the design, selecting the right material is a very important decision. With over 1000 different facing bricks available, there is a facing brick for all types of projects from traditional to ultra-modern
Engineering bricks have high compressive strength and low water absorption. They are used for their physical characteristics and not their appearance. They were traditionally used in civil engineering and are most suitable for applications where strength and resistance to frost attack and water are important. Examples of situations where engineering bricks are used include groundworks, manholes, sewers, retaining walls and damp proof courses. Engineering bricks are rated as Class A or Class B, with Class A being the strongest. Class B engineering bricks are more common than Class A engineering bricks.
Despite their name, common bricks are the least common brick. They tend to have lower compressive strengths than facing bricks or engineering bricks and are generally lower quality. There is also less focus put into a consistent appearance on common bricks. Common bricks should not be used below ground and are generally used for internal brickwork only.

The color, texture, and design of a wall will have a significant impact on a building's appearance and overall value. Stucco provides resilience to a structure with its reinforcing cementitious properties. Stucco gives walls a distinctive and elegant appearance.
Our experienced team has built many structures. If you want a reliable masonry contractor for this job, we can help.
Stucco is a mixture of water, aggregates, and binder. This binder is typically made from a combination of Portland cement, lime, and sand. The material is wet when first mixed but dries into a hardened layer after it has cured. All the components of this material are mixed on site, just before application because stucco will harden after it comes in contact with water.
The basic stucco mixture consists of three parts sand or aggregate, water, and one-part Portland cement, hydrated lime (10% of the cement quantity.) We make sure the mixture is applied correctly and sets well. Our stucco installers will extend the drying time as much as possible to ensure the layer is strong and resilient.
We utilize 1-Kote stucco as well. 1-Kote Gray Concentrate is a fiber reinforced, modified portland cement exterior plaster. The product may be used in conjunction with various foam substrates to create wall assemblies with higher R-values and improved crack and water resistance. 1-Kote Concentrate may also be used over wood or gypsum backing and may be utilized for a scratch and / or brown coat application for a conventional stucco system. It is available in a “regular” as well as a “premium” blend.
Here are some of the biggest benefits of this material:
Stucco Walls are also very durable, especially if they’re maintained well. They’re easier to repair or replace than veneer option.
This material is so versatile and flexible, it can be applied anywhere as long as there’s a strong wall underneath. Our experienced stucco installers have completed a wide range of projects over the years and have the ability and skill needed to do the job right.
When applied correctly, stucco will enhance the beauty of any indoor or outdoor space.
